... to capture unscripted moments and help them last. I focus on moments of effort, movement, and the emotions they hold—from the grit of competition to the quiet stillness of a single expression. I aim to freeze time with purpose. I am in pursuit of "THE SHOT".
Shaped by my life as a father, athlete, engineer, and coach, I approach photography with intention and care. Creating and sharing images brings me joy. I believe in the lasting power of a single photograph—and in passing those moments forward so they endure.
I’ve always been a visual learner and communicator — drawn to art and drafting in school, and later carrying that mindset into my work as an engineer and business leader.
My love for photography was shaped by two moments that showed me the power of photography.
In 1975, a teammate captured photos of my brother and me competing in a track meet — images that revealed our effort, struggle, and joy.
Years later, in 1983, a photographer caught a quiet moment between my sister and our dad after a tough college volleyball match. Titled “A Kiss for Dad,” the photo shows her kissing him on the cheek as he consoles her.
Those photos became family treasures, teaching me the lasting power—and gift—of photography.
In 2002, I got my first digital camera and began photographing our young family’s everyday moments. As our sons began playing soccer and lacrosse, I found myself on the sidelines, determined to capture their grit and joy — just like someone once did for me and my siblings.
That pursuit led to my first DSLR in 2006: a Nikon D80 with a 70–300mm lens. I’ve been chasing moments through the lens ever since.
What draws me in are the raw, unscripted moments — the intensity, emotion, and movement that can't be staged. It’s the spirit behind Theodore Roosevelt’s “Man in the Arena” speech: the honor is in the doing, the competing, the showing up with heart. Sports photography, for me, is about honoring that truth — capturing the determination etched on faces, the stories unfolding in motion.
Over time, my creativity expanded into graphic design, where I now blend photography and digital art to tell visual stories. Whether it’s sports, landscapes, travel, concerts, or architecture, I’m always chasing authenticity and beauty—with a blank canvas and an open eye.
From grade school through college, I competed in sports — but it was the pole vault and decathlon that shaped me most. In those events, raising the bar wasn’t just a physical goal — it became a mindset: jump higher, run faster, throw & jump farther. Always push upward.
Then, in 2021, I woke up one morning and noticed the time: 7:14. For some reason, the numbers struck me as a verse , not a time. I immediately thought of the Gospel of Luke and looked it up:
“Young man, I say to you, arise!” — Luke 7:14
That moment stopped me. The word ARISE, used over 150 times throughout Scripture, carries deep meaning: “Be raised.” “Be awakened.” It speaks of restoration, purpose, and new beginnings.
The word captured everything I learned through athletics — perseverance, determination, discipline, and the drive to keep raising the bar. And it aligned with my deeper “why”: to notice, to create, and to help moments live on.
It reflects my story — and defines the spirit I bring to every project I pursue.
The word ARISE means “Be raised!” or “Be awakened!”, and the logo visually reflects that message. The sun rising from the base of the “A” represents movement, new beginnings, and upward momentum — a central theme in everything I do.
The logo features 7 larger rays and 14 total rays, intentionally aligning with Luke 7:14, the verse that inspired the name. The central ray pierces the open space in the “A,” forming an arrow pointing upward — a bold symbol of elevation, purpose, and direction.
